Dalvin Cook was relatively quiet in Week 10, but expect him to bounce back in a big way against a shaky-at-best Cowboys defense. World Series Game 3: Obstruction call a rarity, but correct in game-ending play

  • Saturday's Game 3 brought something no one has seen before in the World Series: a walk-off victory via obstruction. The St. Louis Cardinals benefited, gaining a 5-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox for a 2-1 series lead. While fans and media talking heads debated the ending, there was no debate. Third base umpire Jim Joyce immediately signaled obstruction. Allen Craig was tripped by Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, who was on the ground after failing to snag an errant throw."With the defensive player on the ground, without intent or intent, it's still obstruction," Joyce said. "You'd probably have to ask Middlebrooks that one, if he could have done anything. But that's not in our determination." Umpires and executive Joe Torre were on the scene to explain why the decision was correct. Umpires answered the questions of Red Sox manager John Farrell and protests from his players. The only resulting question: Was Craig injured? He appeared to limp away from the plate after an awkward slide. Already nursing a sore foot that kept him out from the first week of September until Game 1 of the World Series, Craig might miss additional time.Expect a determination ahead of Sunday's Game 4. First pitch at Busch Stadium is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET, with Lance Lynn scheduled to pitch against Clay Buchholz. However, Buchholz is questionable because of an injury. Here's how the final play happened.Yadier Molina singled. Craig, a pinch hitter, ripped a double down the left-f[......]

World Series 2013: Red Sox hold 'rolling rally' to celebrate title

  • BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox paraded from the Green Monster to the Charles River on Saturday to celebrate a most improbable journey. The "rolling rally" left Fenway Park three days after the team won the World Series with a 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 at its longtime home. It capped a stunning turnaround from 2012 when the Red Sox had their worst record in nearly half a century. MORE COVERAGE: Boston Herald | Boston GlobePlayers still sporting their beards, manager John Farrell, coaches and team officials boarded 25 amphibious "duck boats" on the warning track. The vehicles paused when they reached the Boston Marathon finish line, still painted blue and yellow, where three spectators died in the bombings during the April 15 race.Outfielder Jonny Gomes placed the World Series trophy on the line and he and catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia held Red Sox jerseys with the words "BOSTON STRONG" and the number 617, the city's area code. Before leaving Fenway, Farrell recalled that the Red Sox had left after their game the day of the Marathon for Logan Airport for a road trip. Along the way, they saw emergency vehicles responding to the explosions."Knowing that we were heading out of town, that's going to bring back a lot, and a lot of uncertainty at that moment," Farrell said, "because no one knew where to turn next. So we were fortunate to be part of maybe a little bit of a healing process."Second baseman Dustin Pedroia said: "We played for the whole cit[......]

But as with any player of his profile rumors are flying. Beltran entered the market after a strong season with the St. Louis Cardinals, helping them reach the World Series. His bat remains potent, and his defense is sharp both in terms of his glove and strong, accurate and fundamentally sound arm.Beltran statsBAHRRBISBOBPSLGOPS2013 Season.296248420.3390.4910.830Career.28335813273080.3590.4960.855The Cardinals tendered Beltran, and thus would be eligible for compensation should he sign with another team. The Redbirds likely are moving away from him because of his price tag, age (he turns 37 in April) and desire from a long-term contract. How much? At least $15 million a season for two or three years.MORE: SN's Jesse Spector on the latest Hot Stove rumors | Fielder-Kinsler blockbusterFriday's trade sending David Freese and a reliever to the Los Angeles Angels for two young outfielders further suggested the Cardinals are planning for the future without Beltran.
